Of all the Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB) variants, the Fenetre D'arpette is absolutely one that shouldn't be missed, weather permitting. Today's weather was perfect for this hike, and the views from both sides of the Col were beyond spectacular. I'd ordered a lunch box and finally understood why my simple jambon and cheese sandwich tasted so good. The bread was baked daily and delivered to the refuge at 5 AM, then left by the windows. I was up early and brought them inside. This fresh bread was part of my lunch sandwich, and it truly made all the difference. I found the descent to be more challenging than the ascent due to loose rocks; it could be dangerous if you're not careful. The reward for taking this variant was getting to see Glacier du Trient up close, and the view certainly didn't disappoint. The Swiss countryside was incredibly beautiful, and I truly loved my hike. I didn't feel tired for a moment, and it seemed to me the views just kept getting better every day!
I created my own map using Caltopo map and upload the GPX file to my Garmin Fenix 5x. It worked really well. V standards for variant which is harder but the view is awesome. The weather was so great. I was able to do all variants.
